about
37 Adventures are proud to unveil ‘Too Rough’, the debut single by North London vocalist Samson Ashe.
An alt-pop gem boasting a classic Rn’B touch, ‘Too Rough’ recalls both The Avalanches’ colourful beats and Solange's soulful vocal stylings.
The track was co-written and produced by P*Nut (Amy Winehouse, Wiley) and mixed by Ben Baptie (Adele, Mark Ronson, Lady Gaga).
24 year old Samson Ashe (real name Samson-soul Simbarashe Sacha Ruwangu) grew up listening to whatever his mum was playing in the kitchen (Marvin Gaye, Bob Marley and the Madonna of South Africa, Yvonne Chaka Chaka) and whatever his dad was playing in the car (mainly Oasis).
At the age of 13 Samson first started writing and recording songs on Voice Note or his mum’s iPhone, and soon after started saving his pocket money to record in an actual studio where he learned about mixing, producing and mastering.
With half a lifetime of making music under his belt, ‘Too Rough’ is Samson’s first ever release, with more cuts yet to come.
The London band's new album is a vibrant postcard from southern Italy, boosted by brass, strings, and pizzica percussion from local players. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 14, 2024
